First Pantomine

29 November 2008

Dear Jing Jing

Daddy and mummy brought you to see “Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs” at the Drama Centre. Did you enjoy it? Granted, it was not the original fairytale but an adapted comedy with a local flavour. Daddy was guffawing loudly at the Singaporean-peppered jokes which made reference to the evil queen who kept rebranding herself as SM then MM or refering to the poison apple with china milk powder added (u know about melamine? It’s got into baby milk powder and caused many babies in China, HK and Taiwan to be very sick.

The icing on the cake were the children audiences. Haha, they were so absorbed by the play that they became part of it – interacting with the queen or snow white or the prince when they spoke to the audience. Haha, they even called the queen names or told the prince that snow white has gone underground into the tunnel, hehehe, that was hilarious.

To end on a high note, daddy and mummy loved the pantomine so much that we even bought the CD with autographs from the lead cast. We’ll play it in time for you to hear, ok? We hope you cultivate an interest in music and learn a musical instrument – such as the violin.
